Strathclyde University in Glasgow is known for its welcome of asylum seeking and refugee students, and its wider engagement with the sector with initiatives such as the Strathclyde Law Clinic.
We are looking forward to attending this seminar on Pathways for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Further and Higher Education, and speaking to colleagues about the Universities of Sanctuary Network, and learning about the existing initiatives in Glasgow from practitioners, representatives and students themselves.

Taking into account the classification of Refugees and Asylum Seekers as ‘at risk’ groups by the Scottish Funding Council, this event focuses on FE/HE pathways and transitions in a two-part seminar focusing on policy developments in Access, Equality, and Inclusion.
The seminar considers demographic changes related to refugee settlement in Glasgow, and what this means for the University’s ambition to deliver access and outreach that supports refugees and their families.
Following lunch, we discuss asylum seekers, considering both barriers to HE study, and the steps Universities could take in relation to students facing asylum-related disruption to study and student progression.
